Our feelings are determined not by what happens, but by the stories we tell ourselves about what happens. This is how I frame my daughter’s story, though she would tell it in a much different way.
This is beautiful Dee. I can relate to every paragraph, such a similar story. I love that you are writing these as letters to your kids -- and I do hope that in a few years they will read it and see the wisdom in it. Peace.
Ok. A cult. In a dystopic society run by sociopaths where the adults don’t trust the institutions, no wonder the kids don’t either. Maybe they see adults poisoning the planet, greedily driving overreach because “infinite economic growth”. And every strongman everywhere starts their Niemoller progression with the sexual deviants, typically oppressed within every other group.
I think you are fighting not the problem but a symptom.
